The Mythology Zeus was smitten with the daughter of King Tyre, Europa. The king’s men, though, guarded her so Zeus transformed himself into a beautiful bull, and wandered up to Europa. Europa could not resist riding this bull, and climbs onto Zeus’ back and grabs its golden horns. Zeus then jumped into the ocean, and swam to Crete with Europa on his back. Zeus had his way with Europa, then married her off to the king of Crete. Only the front half of Taurus is visible in sky,
since his rear half is under water as he swims to
Crete.
